Venta Airwasher is running but produces a musty or moldy odor

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Avoid inhaling aerosols from dirty water.

• Disassemble for cleaning: Remove the upper housing, water tank, and evaporation disk stack.
• Empty and scrub basin: Discard all water. Wash the basin with warm water and mild dish soap. Use a soft brush to remove slime or deposits. Rinse thoroughly.
• Clean disk stack: Rinse the disk stack under warm running water. For heavy buildup, soak in Venta cleaner according to instructions, then rinse.
• Use proper additive: Refill with fresh tap water and add the recommended Venta hygiene additive. Do not use bleach or random chemicals, as they can damage plastics and sensors.
• Increase cleaning frequency: During heavy use, clean the unit every 10–14 days to prevent odors.
• Persistent odor: If odor remains after thorough cleaning, consider replacing the evaporation disk stack and thoroughly cleaning all internal plastic surfaces.
