Possible Causes
Worn fan motor bearings, Vibrating transformer or inductor on PCB, Loose metal shielding, PWM fan control noise at certain speeds
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the housing.
- Identify source: With the cover removed (and extreme caution if briefly powered for diagnosis), localize whether the noise comes from the fan motor or the main control PCB.
- Fan motor: If the noise changes with fan speed and comes from the motor, replace the fan motor assembly.
- PCB components: If the noise comes from a transformer or coil, gently press on it with an insulated tool (with power off) and add a small amount of silicone adhesive to reduce vibration, or replace the main control PCB.
- Secure panels: Ensure all covers and screws are tight; loose panels can resonate and amplify high-pitched sounds.
