Possible Causes
Disconnected humidity sensor harness, Failed humidity sensor, Corroded sensor contacts, Faulty main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF and unplug the unit before opening any covers.
- Power reset: Unplug the humidifier for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try again. Temporary glitches can trigger E1.
- Inspect sensor connection: If you are comfortable opening the housing, remove the top cover (usually Phillips screws underneath). Locate the small humidity sensor board or module connected to the main PCB with a 2–4 wire harness. Ensure the connector is fully seated.
- Clean contacts: If there is visible corrosion, gently clean the connector with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, let dry fully, and reconnect.
- Replace sensor: If E1 persists, replace the humidity sensor module with a compatible Vicks/Honeywell sensor assembly for your model.
If you are not comfortable opening the unit, contact a service technician or the manufacturer.
