Possible Causes
Evaporator coil temperature too low, Room temperature below operating range, Frost buildup on evaporator, Faulty defrost sensor or thermistor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dehumidifier before inspecting internal coils.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the room is within the specified operating range (typically above 41°F / 5°C). If too cold, move the unit to a warmer area.
- Allow defrost: Turn the unit OFF and let it sit unplugged for 1–2 hours to allow any ice on the evaporator coil to melt.
- Clean air filter: Remove and clean the air intake filter with mild soap and water, dry completely, and reinstall to improve airflow.
- Inspect defrost sensor: If the “F” indicator remains even in a warm room, the defrost thermistor attached to the evaporator coil may be faulty and require replacement.
