Access control area: Remove the control panel cover to expose the humidistat.
Inspect knob and shaft: Ensure the knob is not cracked and that it turns the humidistat shaft. Replace the knob if it is stripped.
Check wiring: Verify that wires are firmly attached to the humidistat terminals and not corroded.
Test humidistat: With a meter, check continuity across the contacts while turning the knob. If it does not open/close as expected, replace the humidistat.

Test: After replacement, adjust the knob and confirm that the unit cycles on and off at different humidity settings.
