Dehumidifier displays F1 and will not start

Safety: Unplug the unit before inspecting internal electronics.

Steps to handle F1:

• Verify supply voltage: Ensure the outlet provides correct voltage (typically 120V AC in North America). Avoid using extension cords.
• Power reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If F1 returns immediately, proceed.
• Inspect main control board: Remove the cover to access the board. Look for burnt spots, bulging capacitors, or damaged traces.
• Check for moisture damage: Signs of corrosion or water marks on the board indicate liquid intrusion. The board should be replaced.
• Replace the main control board: Disconnect all harnesses, noting their positions. Install a Whirlpool-compatible replacement board and reconnect harnesses one at a time to the matching connectors.
• Use surge protection: After replacement, plug the unit into a surge-protected outlet to reduce future risk.

Test: Power on and confirm that F1 is gone and normal operation is restored.
