Possible Causes

Stuck front panel button, Debris or moisture under keypad, Damaged keypad membrane, Shorted UI board traces

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before working on the control panel.

Steps to resolve F2:

  • Inspect buttons: Press each button several times. If one feels stuck or does not click, it may be jammed.
  • Clean around buttons: Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with mild detergent to clean the control panel surface. Do not allow liquid to seep into the panel.
  • Open the control panel: Remove screws and gently lift the panel to access the keypad membrane and UI board.
  • Check for moisture or corrosion: If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly. Light corrosion on contacts can be cleaned with electronics contact cleaner.
  • Replace keypad/UI board if damaged: If the membrane is torn, bubbled, or buttons remain stuck, install a Whirlpool-compatible control panel or UI board assembly.

Test: Reassemble, restore power, and verify that all buttons respond normally and F2 is cleared.
