Whirlpool
Bucket Full / Continuous Drain Protection Code
Dehumidifier displays P2 and stops collecting water

Possible Causes
Water bucket full, Bucket not seated properly, Float switch activated, Continuous drain hose kinked or blocked causing backup, Faulty bucket switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Whirlpool models, P2 indicates the bucket is full or not in place.
Steps to clear P2:
- Empty the bucket: Pull out the water bucket, empty it completely, and reinstall it firmly until it clicks into place.
- Check bucket alignment: Ensure the bucket is not warped and that it fully engages the internal switch lever. The front of the bucket should be flush with the cabinet.
- Continuous drain setup: If using a drain hose, disconnect it and verify it is not kinked, elevated above the outlet, or clogged with debris. Flush the hose with water and reinstall with a downward slope to the drain.
- Inspect float and switch: If P2 remains with an empty, properly seated bucket, inspect the float and bucket switch as described under E5. A stuck float or failed switch can falsely signal a full bucket.
- Replace faulty bucket switch: Install a Whirlpool-compatible bucket float switch if testing shows it is stuck open/closed.
Test: After correcting bucket and drain issues, power the unit on and confirm that P2 is cleared and the compressor starts.
