Dehumidifier powers on but compressor never starts; only fan runs

Safety first: Unplug the unit before any internal inspection. High voltage is present on compressor circuits.

Basic user checks:

• Allow warm-up: Many Whynter units have a 3-minute compressor delay. Wait several minutes after turning on before concluding it will not start.
• Check room temperature: If the room is too cold, the compressor may be intentionally locked out.
• Listen for clicks: A repeated clicking sound without compressor start can indicate capacitor or compressor issues.

Advanced (technician-level) checks: Testing the start capacitor, overload, and compressor windings requires a multimeter and should be done by a qualified technician. Do not attempt to bypass safety devices.
