Dehumidifier displays E5 and will not run compressor

Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not bypass safety devices or run the compressor continuously with an error present.

Steps to resolve E5:

• Clean condenser coil: Access the rear or side of the unit and locate the warm condenser coil. Vacuum dust and lint from the fins. Use a soft brush to avoid bending fins.
• Ensure ventilation: Confirm that the unit has adequate clearance and is not in a confined space that traps heat.
• Check power supply: Plug the unit directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. Avoid extension cords or power strips that can cause voltage drop.
• Reset and test: After cleaning and ensuring proper power, leave the unit unplugged for 15 minutes, then plug in and test.

If E5 persists, the compressor, start capacitor, or control board may be failing. Diagnosing compressor current draw and capacitor values requires electrical test equipment and should be done by a qualified technician.
