Possible Causes

Evaporator coil temperature too low, Defrost sensor misreading, Restricted airflow causing coil to freeze, Unit operating in very cold environment

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow any ice to melt before further use.

Steps to resolve F1:

  • Defrost the unit: Turn off and unplug the dehumidifier. Remove the front grille and let it sit for 1–2 hours until all ice on the evaporator coil has melted.
  • Clean filter and coil: Wash the air filter and vacuum dust from the evaporator coil fins to improve airflow.
  • Check room temperature: Verify the room is within the recommended operating range. If the space is too cold, relocate the unit or reduce run time.
  • Ensure clearance: Provide several inches of space around the unit so air can circulate freely.

If F1 recurs frequently in a normal-temperature room, the defrost sensor or control board may be faulty and should be inspected by a technician.
