Possible Causes

Loose user interface ribbon cable, failed user interface board, failed main control board, moisture intrusion in control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or touching wiring.

  • Inspect control panel: Remove the front control panel bezel. Check for signs of moisture, corrosion, or physical damage on the user interface board.
  • Check ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable or harness between the user interface and main control board. Reseat both ends, ensuring the cable is fully inserted and locked.
  • Dry out moisture: If condensation or water is present, gently dry the area with a clean cloth and allow the unit to air dry for several hours before restoring power.
  • Power cycle: Restore power and see if the E2 code clears. Try entering diagnostic mode (per Amana tech sheet inside the unit) to test the interface buttons.
  • Replace faulty board: If buttons do not respond or E2 persists, replace the user interface board first. If the problem remains, the main control board may also need replacement.

Use only OEM Amana replacement boards to ensure proper communication and operation.
