E5 error code, ice production is very slow or stops completely, unit may run but not harvest ice.

Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before testing components.

• Locate reservoir thermistor: On many Amana models, the thermistor is clipped to the water reservoir or inlet line.
• Inspect mounting: Ensure the thermistor is properly clipped and in contact with the reservoir surface, not dangling in air.
• Check wiring and connector: Trace the thermistor wires to the control board and reseat the connector. Look for corrosion or damage.
• Measure resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the Amana service chart for the current water temperature. Replace if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
• Replace thermistor if needed: Install the new OEM thermistor, route wires away from sharp edges, and secure with clips or ties.
• Control board check: If a known-good thermistor still triggers E5, the main control board may have a failed sensor circuit and require replacement.
