Possible Causes
Failed water inlet valve coil, clogged inlet screen, low household water pressure, kinked water supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.
- Check water supply: Verify the household shutoff valve is fully open and the supply line is not kinked behind the unit.
- Inspect inlet screen: Disconnect the water line from the inlet valve at the back of the unit. Remove and clean the small screen filter inside the valve using a soft brush.
- Test valve coil: With power off, disconnect the valve wiring and measure coil resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the spec in the tech sheet. An open coil indicates a bad valve.
- Check for flow: Briefly open the supply line into a bucket to confirm strong water flow from the house plumbing.
- Replace inlet valve: If the coil is bad or the valve is stuck, remove mounting screws, swap in a new OEM Amana water inlet valve, reconnect tubing and wiring, and check for leaks.
- Restore power and test: Turn water back on, restore power, and run a fill test in diagnostic mode if available.
