Possible Causes
Failed hot gas solenoid coil, restricted hot gas line, wiring issue to hot gas valve, control board output failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit. The hot gas valve is part of the sealed refrigeration system; do not open refrigerant lines.
- Locate hot gas valve: Typically mounted near the compressor with two refrigerant lines and an electrical coil.
- Inspect wiring: Check the coil wiring harness for loose connections or damage. Reseat the connector at the valve and control board.
- Test coil resistance: Disconnect the coil and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the spec in the tech sheet. An open coil indicates a bad valve coil.
- Run diagnostic harvest test: In service mode, command a harvest and verify that the control board sends voltage to the hot gas valve coil.
- Replace coil/valve: If the coil is defective and removable, replace the coil. If the valve body itself is restricted or leaking, a sealed system technician must replace and recharge the system.
