Possible Causes
Failed touchpad, damaged ribbon cable, moisture behind control panel, shorted user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel.
- Remove control panel: Carefully pry off the front control panel or remove mounting screws to access the keypad and interface board.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for condensation, water streaks, or corrosion on the board and connectors. Dry gently with a soft cloth and allow to air dry.
- Check ribbon cable: Reseat the keypad ribbon cable at both the keypad and main control board ends. Ensure it is not torn or kinked.
- Test buttons: After drying and reseating, restore power and test each button. If some or all buttons still do not respond, the keypad or interface board is likely defective.
- Replace keypad/interface: Install a new OEM Amana user interface or keypad assembly, transfer any overlays, and reassemble the panel.
