How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit and shut off water before cleaning. Wear gloves when using cleaners.
- Discard old ice: Empty the ice bin completely and discard any old ice.
- Clean interior surfaces: Wipe the bin, reservoir, and accessible surfaces with a solution of warm water and mild detergent, then rinse.
- Descale and sanitize: Run a full cleaning cycle using an Amana-approved ice machine cleaner followed by a sanitizer, following the instructions in the user manual.
- Replace water filter: If your model has an inline or internal filter, replace it according to the schedule or sooner if taste issues occur.
- Improve ventilation: Avoid storing food or chemicals near the ice maker that could transfer odors.
