Possible Causes
Failed circulation pump, blocked water inlet to evaporator, kinked silicone water hose, clogged internal water filter or screen
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing covers or handling water lines.
Steps:
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the proper line with clean, potable water. Do not overfill.
- Inspect the pump intake: Remove the ice basket and look into the reservoir. Locate the pump intake screen; clean any debris, scale, or slime with a soft brush and warm water.
- Listen for pump operation: Plug in and start a cycle. After initial startup, you should hear a gentle humming or water trickling. If the pump is silent, it may be failed or not receiving power.
- Check hoses: With power off, remove the top cover and inspect the clear silicone hoses from the pump to the evaporator tray. Straighten any kinks and ensure connections are tight.
- Test the pump: Disconnect the pump connector and measure resistance across the pump terminals. An open circuit indicates a bad pump. If accessible, you can briefly power the pump with a low-voltage test supply (matching its rating) to confirm operation.
- Replace the pump: If the pump is seized or open, replace it with an Antarctic Star-compatible circulation pump. Transfer any rubber mounts and reconnect hoses securely to prevent leaks.
