E8
Antarctic Star
Water Level Sensor / Float Switch Error
E8 displayed; unit may beep and stop, often associated with water supply issues

Possible Causes
Stuck water level float, dirty water level electrodes, failed float switch, disconnected level sensor harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before working around water and electrical components.
Steps:
- Check reservoir level: Ensure the water reservoir is filled to the correct mark. Some Antarctic Star models will show E8 if the level is too low or too high.
- Locate the level sensor: Depending on model, this may be a plastic float assembly or metal level electrodes in the reservoir.
- Clean the sensor: Remove mineral deposits or slime from the float or electrodes using a soft brush and a vinegar-water solution. Rinse thoroughly.
- Verify float movement: Move the float up and down by hand. It should move freely and, if attached to a microswitch, you should hear a click.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Ensure connectors are secure and wires are intact.
- Test switch: With a multimeter, test continuity of the float switch in both positions. Replace the float switch assembly if it does not change state.
- Reassemble and test: Refill the reservoir, plug in the unit, and start a cycle to confirm E8 is cleared.
