Possible Causes
Blocked drain hose, failed drain pump, kinked internal drain line, clogged drain outlet in reservoir
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and be prepared for water spillage when disconnecting hoses.
Steps:
- Inspect external drain: If your Antarctic Star ice maker has a rear drain plug or hose, ensure it is not kinked or elevated above the unit, which can prevent proper drainage.
- Clear the drain outlet: Remove the ice basket and locate the drain outlet in the reservoir. Clean any debris or scale blocking the opening.
- Check internal hoses: Remove the rear or bottom panel to access internal drain hoses. Straighten kinks and ensure clamps are secure.
- Test drain pump (if equipped): During a cleaning or drain cycle, listen for the pump. If silent, test for voltage at the pump connector (only if you are trained and using proper safety). If voltage is present but the pump does not run, replace the pump.
- Flush the system: Run a cleaning cycle with a vinegar solution to dissolve minor scale in the drain path, then flush with clean water.
