Possible Causes
Dirty water reservoir, biofilm or algae growth, use of unfiltered tap water with high minerals, dirty ice basket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals that are not food-safe.
Steps:
- Empty and discard ice: Throw away all existing ice and drain the reservoir.
- Clean reservoir and bin: Wash the water reservoir, ice basket, and scoop with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Descale system: Fill the reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar to 1 part water. Run a cleaning cycle if available, or run several ice cycles and discard the ice. Then flush with 2–3 full reservoirs of clean water.
- Use better water: Use filtered or bottled water to reduce minerals and odors.
