Possible Causes
Refrigerant leak in evaporator or condenser, blocked capillary tube, weak compressor, damaged refrigerant line from vibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself. Refrigerant handling requires certification.
Steps:
- Check evaporator temperature: After 10–15 minutes of operation, carefully touch near (not directly with wet hands) the evaporator plate. It should be very cold and may frost. If it remains at room temperature, there is a cooling system issue.
- Inspect for oil stains: Look around copper lines, joints, and the evaporator for oily residue, which can indicate a refrigerant leak.
- Listen to compressor: A compressor that runs quietly but never cools may be weak or low on refrigerant.
- Call a technician: Sealed system repairs (leak detection, evacuation, recharge, compressor replacement) must be done by a licensed refrigeration technician. Provide them with the model number of your Antarctic Star ice maker.
