Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose, Failed drain pump motor (on pump models), Kinked drain line, Blocked internal drain port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before working on the drain system. Water may spill; protect floors.
Steps:
- Check external drain: Inspect the drain hose from the Arktic unit to the household drain. Straighten kinks and ensure the hose slopes downward with no traps.
- Clear clogs: Disconnect the hose and flush it with warm water. Use a small brush if needed to remove debris or scale.
- Inspect internal drain: Remove the bin and access the internal drain port or sump. Clear any ice, food particles, or scale blocking the opening.
- Test drain pump (if equipped): On pump models, listen for the pump when the unit should be draining. If it hums but does not move water, or is silent, test for voltage at the pump. Replace the drain pump assembly if it receives power but does not run.
- Reassemble and test: Reconnect hoses securely to prevent leaks and run a cycle to confirm proper draining.
