Possible Causes

Failed hot gas valve, Defective harvest heater, Stuck defrost relay on control board, Faulty evaporator thermistor feedback

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the unit before accessing refrigeration components. Do not bend or puncture refrigerant lines.

Steps:

  • Manual defrost: Allow the unit to thaw completely with doors open. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
  • Check hot gas valve: Locate the hot gas solenoid valve near the compressor. During harvest, it should energize and get warm. If the coil is open or the valve is stuck closed, replace the hot gas valve assembly.
  • Inspect harvest heater (if equipped): Some Arktic models use an electric heater on the ice plate. Test the heater for continuity and replace if open.
  • Control board check: If valves and heaters test good but E11 recurs, the defrost/harvest relay on the main control PCB may be stuck or not energizing. Replace the main control board.
