Possible Causes
Open or shorted ambient thermistor, Disconnected sensor harness, Sensor out of calibration, Moisture intrusion into sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before removing panels.
Steps:
- Locate sensor: The ambient thermistor is usually mounted near the air intake grille or behind the front panel on Arktic ice makers.
- Inspect wiring: Check for loose or corroded connectors. Reseat the plug at the sensor and control board.
- Test resistance: Measure thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare to Arktic specs. Replace if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Seal replacement: When installing a new sensor, ensure any grommets or seals are properly seated to prevent moisture ingress.
