Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose, Blocked internal drain channel, Failed drain pump motor, Kinked or improperly routed drain line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. If the unit is plumbed to a drain, be prepared for water spillage when removing hoses.
- Inspect external drain hose: Follow the drain hose from the back of the Asko ice maker to the household drain. Ensure it is not kinked, pinched, or elevated higher than recommended in the installation manual.
- Check for clogs: Detach the hose from the drain connection and blow through it or flush with warm water to clear any blockage.
- Clean internal drain channel: Remove the ice bin and access the drain opening at the bottom of the evaporator area. Use a small brush or pipe cleaner to remove debris or scale.
- Test drain pump: With the unit reassembled and powered, start a cycle and listen for the drain pump. If it hums but does not move water, or is silent, the pump may be seized or failed.
- Replace pump if needed: If clearing the hose and channel does not resolve E04, the drain pump assembly should be replaced by a qualified technician.
