Possible Causes
Corrupted control board firmware, Faulty sensor feedback (temperature or level), Intermittent wiring harness connection, Electrical interference
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before inspecting wiring or boards.
- Perform hard reset: Unplug the ice maker for at least 5 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge, then plug back in.
- Inspect harness connections: Remove access panels and gently reseat all multi-pin connectors on the main control board, especially those from thermistors and level sensors.
- Check for damaged wires: Look for chafed or pinched wires where harnesses pass through metal openings. Repair with heat-shrink and proper connectors if needed.
- Monitor operation: After reassembly, run the unit and observe whether it still short-cycles. If E16 returns, the main control PCB may require replacement or firmware update by an authorized Asko service provider.
