Possible Causes
Blocked ice level sensor, dirty infrared emitter/receiver lenses, failed bin full switch, misaligned sensor brackets, wiring fault to level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before reaching into the ice bin area.
How to fix:
- 1. Empty the bin: Remove all ice from the storage bin to ensure it is not actually full.
- 2. Locate bin full sensor: Many Avanti ice makers use an infrared sensor pair on opposite sides of the bin or a mechanical lever switch above the bin.
- 3. Clean sensor lenses: If your model uses IR sensors, gently clean the small plastic windows with a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Dry completely.
- 4. Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
- 5. Inspect mechanical lever: For lever-style sensors, confirm the lever moves freely and is not stuck by ice buildup. Clean any ice or mineral deposits.
- 6. Test sensor: If accessible, test the switch or sensor with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation. Replace if defective.
