Possible Causes

No water supply to inlet valve, clogged inlet screen, failed water level sensor in reservoir, defective inlet valve coil, wiring issue between sensor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and shut off the water supply before disconnecting any water lines.

Diagnostic steps:

  • 1. Check water supply: Confirm the household shutoff valve is fully open and the supply line to the Avanti ice maker is not kinked or pinched.
  • 2. Inspect inlet screen: Disconnect the water line at the inlet valve on the back of the unit. Look for debris in the valve screen and gently clean with a small brush if clogged.
  • 3. Verify water flow: Briefly open the supply line into a bucket to confirm strong water flow from the house plumbing (then shut it off again).
  • 4. Check reservoir water level sensor: Remove the top or front cover to access the water reservoir. Many Avanti models use a float switch or electronic level sensor. Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by scale or slime.
  • 5. Test inlet valve coil: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the inlet valve terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed valve that must be replaced.
  • 6. Clean reservoir: If mineral buildup is present, clean the reservoir and float with a mixture of warm water and ice maker cleaner, then rinse thoroughly.
