Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, fan blade obstructed by debris, fan motor wiring disconnected, control board not sending power to fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing the rear panel. Fan blades can be sharp.
How to troubleshoot:
- 1. Access the fan: Remove the rear service panel to expose the condenser fan assembly.
- 2. Inspect for obstructions: Check for dust, plastic, or wiring caught in the fan blades. Remove any debris and ensure the blade spins freely by hand.
- 3. Check fan motor wiring: Confirm the fan motor connector is firmly attached to the harness and control board. Look for burnt or discolored connectors.
- 4. Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the fan motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you are qualified, you can also apply appropriate test voltage to confirm operation.
- 5. Inspect control board output: If the fan motor tests good but never receives power when the compressor is running, the main control PCB may be defective and require replacement.
