Possible Causes

Blown internal fuse on control module, Failed main control PCB, Loose power connector at terminal block, Defective power cord

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels.

Steps to check:

  • Verify wall outlet: Plug a lamp or another appliance into the same outlet to confirm it has power. If not, reset the breaker or replace the fuse in your home panel.
  • Inspect power cord: Pull the ice maker slightly forward and check the Balay power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Replace the cord if damaged.
  • Check terminal block: Remove the rear lower cover (usually held by Torx or Phillips screws). Inspect the terminal block where the cord connects to the unit. Tighten any loose screws and look for burn marks. If the block is melted, it must be replaced.
  • Internal fuse and PCB: On many Balay ice makers, the main control PCB has a small glass or thermal fuse. With power disconnected, remove the control cover, visually inspect the fuse, and test it with a multimeter for continuity. If open, replace the fuse with the exact rating. If the fuse blows again immediately, the PCB or another component is shorted and the entire control board should be replaced.

If you are not comfortable working with mains voltage, contact a qualified Balay service technician.
