Possible Causes

Closed or blocked water supply valve, Clogged water inlet filter screen, Defective water inlet valve coil, Kinked or frozen water supply line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve before working on the water circuit.

  • Check water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve feeding the Balay ice maker is fully open. If connected via a saddle valve, verify it is not clogged or partially closed.
  • Inspect supply hose: Pull the unit forward and check the flexible hose for kinks or crushing. Straighten or replace as needed.
  • Clean inlet filter: Turn off water, disconnect the hose from the rear water inlet valve. Inside the valve port there is usually a small mesh filter. Remove and rinse it under running water to clear debris, then reinstall.
  • Test inlet valve: With power off, access the water inlet valve assembly. Check the coil resistance with a multimeter (compare to Balay service specs). If the coil is open or shorted, replace the valve assembly.

After reassembly, restore water and power, then run a test cycle to confirm ice production resumes.
