Possible Causes

Blocked drain hose, Clogged internal drain channel, Failed drain pump motor, Frozen drain line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and close the water supply before servicing the drain system.

  • Inspect external drain hose: Ensure the hose from the Balay ice maker to the drain connection is not kinked, pinched, or elevated too high. Straighten and reposition as needed.
  • Check for clogs: Detach the drain hose from the house drain and blow through it or flush with warm water to clear any blockage.
  • Clean internal drain channel: Remove the internal ice bin and access panel to reach the drain area. Use a soft brush and warm water to remove scale, ice, or debris from the drain channel and sump.
  • Test drain pump: Locate the drain pump assembly. Check for obstructions in the impeller. Spin the impeller by hand; it should move freely. Test the pump coil with a multimeter. If the pump is noisy, seized, or electrically open, replace the drain pump.

Once cleared, reassemble, restore power and water, and run a cleaning or test cycle to verify proper draining.
