How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the evaporator and electrical components.
- Manual defrost: Leave doors open and allow the Balay ice maker to defrost completely. Place towels to catch meltwater.
- Inspect heater and thermostat: Once ice is cleared, locate the defrost heater and thermostat on or near the evaporator. Check for visible damage or burn marks.
- Test continuity: Use a multimeter to test the heater and thermostat. Replace any component that is open when it should be closed (per temperature conditions).
- Control board: If heater and thermostat are good but defrost never initiates, the main control PCB defrost circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
