Possible Causes
Burned-out evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blades, Faulty fan wiring or control output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the ice-making compartment.
Steps:
- Access fan: Remove the inner rear panel to locate the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for ice blockage: If the fan is encased in ice, defrost the area with a hair dryer on low, keeping it moving to avoid overheating plastic.
- Spin test: Ensure the fan blade spins freely by hand. If stiff or seized, replace the motor.
- Electrical test: With the fan disconnected, measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates failure. Also check for supply voltage during operation.
- Replace fan: Install a new Bauknecht evaporator fan motor and reassemble the panel.
After repair, monitor for normal airflow and absence of E15.
