Possible Causes

Defective cabinet/ambient NTC sensor, Loose sensor connection at control board, Sensor wiring damaged by ice or vibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing panels.

Steps:

  • Locate cabinet sensor: Typically mounted on the inner wall of the ice storage bin or near the air return grill.
  • Visual check: Look for cracked sensor housing, moisture intrusion, or broken leads.
  • Measure resistance: Remove the sensor connector and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC curve (often similar to the evaporator sensor). Infinite or zero resistance indicates failure.
  • Check harness: Trace the cable back to the main PCB, ensuring it is not pinched or cut. Reseat the connector.
  • Replace sensor: Install a genuine Bauknecht cabinet NTC sensor, routing the cable as originally installed to avoid contact with sharp metal or moving parts.

Restore power and monitor operation for several hours to confirm normal cycling and that E4 does not reappear.
