Possible Causes
Faulty water level sensor in ice tray, Mineral buildup on level electrodes, Damaged sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve.
Steps:
- Access ice tray: Remove the front cover and pull out the ice tray assembly as per service instructions.
- Inspect level sensor: Some Bauknecht models use metal probes or a float sensor to detect water level. Check for limescale or slime buildup on probes or float.
- Clean components: Soak removable parts in a solution of warm water and food-safe descaler or vinegar. Gently scrub with a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the tray to the control board for damage or loose connectors. Reseat all plugs.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor is physically damaged or readings are inconsistent (per service manual), replace the water level sensor assembly.
After cleaning or replacement, restore water and power, then run several cycles to verify normal cube size and that E6 does not return.
