Possible Causes
Defective infrared bin sensor, Misaligned emitter/receiver pair, Blocked sensor window by frost or dirt
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before servicing.
Check and clean:
- Locate bin sensor: Bauknecht ice makers often use an infrared sensor pair at the top of the storage bin or a mechanical flap switch.
- Clean sensor lenses: Wipe the emitter and receiver windows with a soft, dry cloth. Remove any frost with a warm (not hot) damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
- Test operation: With power restored, block the sensor path with your hand; the control should detect "bin full". If there is no change, the sensor may be faulty.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Bauknecht ice bin sensor assembly if cleaning and alignment do not restore function.
After replacement, clear any stored error by unplugging for 5 minutes, then restart and monitor ice production.
