Beko
Ice Drop / Expansion Noise or Mechanical Impact
Beko ice maker makes a loud knocking or banging sound periodically
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Ice cubes dropping onto empty plastic bin, Refrigerant line expansion against cabinet, Loose mounting brackets, Ejector arm striking ice block
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit if you need to access internal components.
- 1. Differentiate normal vs abnormal:
- Some knocking when ice drops into the bin is normal.
- Continuous or very loud banging indicates a problem.
- 2. Check bin cushioning:
- Ensure the ice bin is correctly installed and not warped.
- Replace a cracked bin that amplifies noise.
- 3. Inspect refrigerant lines:
- At the rear, gently move copper lines away from metal panels if they are touching.
- 4. Examine ejector mechanism:
- Remove internal cover and watch a cycle.
- Ensure the ejector arm is not hitting a solid block of ice; if so, follow E13 to address harvest issues.
