Possible Causes

Failed ice maker motor, Stripped drive gears in ice maker module, Ice jam in ejector blades, Broken ice level or position switch inside module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the ice maker assembly.

  • Inspect for jams: Remove the ice bin. Look at the ice maker mold and ejector blades. If cubes are stuck or bridged together, gently break them apart with a plastic utensil. Do not use metal tools that can damage the coating.
  • Check for obstructions: Ensure no foreign objects (plastic, packaging, etc.) are lodged in the ejector mechanism or under the ice maker.
  • Manual test (if equipped): Some Bosch ice makers have a small test button or hole on the module. With power restored, press and hold to initiate a harvest cycle. If the motor hums but does not turn, or does nothing at all, the motor/module is likely faulty.
  • Remove ice maker: Disconnect power again. Remove mounting screws and unplug the ice maker harness. Slide the assembly out carefully.
  • Inspect gears and shaft: Open the cover on the ice maker module (if serviceable) and check for stripped plastic gears or a loose ejector shaft. If damaged, replace the entire ice maker assembly.
  • Install new ice maker: Mount the new Bosch ice maker, reconnect the harness, and reinstall the ice bin. Restore power and allow several hours for ice production to resume.
