Possible Causes
Old or saturated Bosch water filter, Stagnant water in lines, Odors from food in freezer absorbed by ice, New plastic parts off‑gassing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Use only potable water for the ice maker.
- Replace water filter: Install a new OEM Bosch filter if older than 6 months or after long periods of non‑use.
- Discard old ice: Empty the entire ice bin and discard any ice that has been stored for weeks.
- Clean ice bin: Wash the bin with warm water and mild dish soap, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely before reinstalling.
- Check for food odors: Remove spoiled or uncovered foods from the freezer. Use baking soda to absorb odors.
- Flush system: Run and discard the first 2–3 batches of ice after filter replacement or after installing a new refrigerator to remove manufacturing residues.
