Possible Causes

Clogged drain line, Failed drain pump, Loose hose connection causing leak, Activated base pan float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the ice maker and shut off water. Water may be present in the base; use towels and avoid slipping.

Steps:

  • Inspect base pan: Remove the front kick plate and look for standing water in the base. Many Café models use a float or sensor to detect leaks.
  • Dry the base: Carefully soak up water with towels or a wet/dry vacuum. Gently move the float switch to ensure it moves freely.
  • Check drain line: Locate the drain hose from the reservoir to the household drain or pump. Look for kinks, clogs, or ice blockage. Flush with warm water if accessible.
  • Inspect drain pump (if equipped): Verify the pump is not obstructed and that its wiring is intact. Remove debris from the pump inlet screen.
  • Tighten hose connections: Check all hose clamps and fittings around the reservoir, pump, and drain outlet for leaks. Tighten or replace clamps as needed.
  • Test for leaks: Restore water and power, then observe a full cycle while checking for drips. If E13 returns, the float switch or drain pump may need replacement.
