Ice maker displays E2 and stops ice production; unit may still power on and circulate water.

Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker or unplug the Café ice maker before servicing. Remove ice from the bin to avoid spills.

Steps:

• Empty and inspect the bin: Remove the ice bin and look for a small sensor or thermistor mounted on or near the bin wall or chute. On many Café models, this is a small plastic probe or clip-on sensor.
• Check for obstruction: Make sure no ice block, plastic liner, or debris is covering the sensor. Clear any frost buildup with a warm, damp cloth (do not use sharp tools).
• Inspect wiring: Follow the bin sensor wires back into the cabinet. Look for pinched or broken wires, especially where the bin slides in and out.
• Reseat connector: Access the control compartment (usually behind the front lower panel or rear panel) and locate the bin thermistor connector on the main control board. Unplug and firmly reconnect it.
• Test the sensor (advanced): With power off, disconnect the bin thermistor and measure resistance. Compare to Café specifications. If open/shorted, replace.
• Replace bin thermistor: Remove the old sensor from its mounting clip or bracket, install the new Café bin thermistor, route the harness neatly, and reconnect to the board.
• If E2 remains: The main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
