Possible Causes

Failed recirculation pump motor, Blocked pump inlet or outlet, Airlock in water system, Loose or corroded pump wiring connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power and shut off water. Expect some water spillage when removing hoses; have towels ready.

Steps:

  • Locate recirculation pump: Typically mounted near the water reservoir or sump, with hoses leading to the evaporator plate.
  • Check for obstructions: Remove the pump inlet screen (if present) and clean out debris, scale, or slime. Inspect hoses for kinks or blockages.
  • Inspect wiring: Verify the pump’s electrical connector is fully seated and free of corrosion. Repair any damaged wires.
  • Test pump (advanced): With power disconnected, remove the pump and bench-test it with appropriate voltage if you are qualified. If the motor does not run or is noisy, replace it.
  • Replace recirculation pump: Disconnect hoses (note their positions), remove mounting screws, install the new Café-compatible pump, reconnect hoses securely, and check for leaks.
  • Bleed air: After reassembly, restore water and power, then run a cycle to purge air from the system. Monitor for E6 returning.
