Possible Causes
Blocked condenser coil or fan, Failed condenser fan motor, Low refrigerant charge or system restriction, Overheating compressor or faulty overload protector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself; that requires certified service.
- Clean condenser: Access the rear or bottom of the ice maker and locate the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. Ensure airflow is not blocked by walls or cabinets (leave several centimeters clearance).
- Check condenser fan: Spin the fan blades by hand (with power off). If stiff or seized, the fan motor may be failing. With power restored briefly, confirm the fan starts when the compressor is commanded on. Replace the fan motor if it does not run.
- Ventilation: Ensure the ice maker is not installed in a confined, unventilated space. Overheating will trigger protection and E05.
- Compressor overload: If the compressor clicks on and off rapidly, the overload protector may be tripping due to high current or internal compressor fault. This typically requires a technician to test current draw and refrigerant pressures.
- Reset: After cleaning and improving ventilation, unplug the unit for 30 minutes to allow the compressor to cool, then restart. If E05 returns quickly, contact a qualified refrigeration technician.
