Possible Causes

Faulty harvest motor or drive gear, Stuck ice tray or evaporator due to scale, Defective hot gas valve or defrost solenoid, Control board harvest relay failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing moving parts or electrical components.

  • Descale the evaporator: If there is visible white scale on the evaporator or ice tray, run a full cleaning cycle with a Candy-approved ice maker descaler. Heavy scale can prevent ice from releasing.
  • Check harvest motor: Locate the harvest motor assembly (often near the evaporator). Inspect gears and linkages for broken teeth or obstructions. Replace the motor if it does not run when commanded.
  • Inspect hot gas valve: The hot gas or defrost valve briefly warms the evaporator to release ice. Listen for a click and slight hissing during harvest. If absent, the valve coil or control relay may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
  • Lubricate mechanical pivots: Where allowed by Candy service instructions, lightly lubricate pivot points with food-safe lubricant to ensure smooth movement.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and inspection, restart the unit and observe a full cycle. If E09 persists, the harvest motor or control board likely needs replacement.
