Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Obstructed fan blades by ice or debris, Fan wiring harness damage, Control board fan driver fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing covers. Beware of sharp metal edges and moving parts.
- Access the fan: Remove the internal cover near the evaporator to expose the circulation fan.
- Clear obstructions: Check for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the fan. Carefully remove any ice with a plastic tool; do not use sharp metal tools on coils.
- Spin test: Rotate the fan blades by hand. If stiff or seized, the motor bearings may be worn and the fan motor should be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the fan connector and wiring for loose connections or damage. Reseat the plug on the control board.
- Power test (advanced): With the unit reassembled but accessible, briefly power on and listen for the fan. If the fan receives voltage but does not run, replace the fan motor. If no voltage is present, the control board may be faulty.
