Possible Causes

Misadjusted ice thickness probe, Scale buildup on thickness sensor, Failed thickness sensor switch, Wiring fault between sensor and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow any ice on the evaporator to melt before working near the ice thickness probe.

  • Locate the thickness sensor: On many Candy models, a metal or plastic probe hangs near the evaporator to detect ice thickness.
  • Clean the probe: Wipe the probe with a soft cloth and descaling solution to remove mineral deposits that can affect sensing.
  • Check adjustment: Some probes are adjustable. Refer to your user or service manual for the correct gap between the probe and evaporator. Adjust gently if needed.
  • Inspect wiring: Ensure the probe’s cable is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
  • Test function: After cleaning and adjustment, run a cycle and observe ice size. If E11 returns or ice remains inconsistent, replace the ice thickness sensor assembly.
