Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Moisture ingress into control panel, Failed touch keypad or button PCB, Faulty main control board interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel.
- Dry the panel: If the panel is wet from spills or condensation, gently dry the surface and allow the unit to sit unplugged for several hours.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the front panel to access the keypad board. Reseat the flat ribbon cable at both the UI and main PCB ends.
- Inspect for corrosion: Look for green or white corrosion on connectors. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
- Test buttons: With the panel removed, press each button and listen/feel for a click (for mechanical switches). If some buttons are unresponsive, the keypad PCB may need replacement.
- Replace UI board: If E14 persists and buttons remain erratic, replace the user interface / control panel assembly as specified for your Candy model.
