Unit powers on, fan may run, but compressor does not start and E2 is shown on the display.

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. The compressor circuit carries mains voltage; if you are not comfortable working with live circuits, contact a professional.

• Ventilation check: Ensure the ice maker has at least 10–15 cm clearance around the sides and back. Overheating can trigger compressor protection and E2.
• Inspect the compressor area: Remove the rear cover to access the compressor, start relay, and overload protector. Look for burnt smells, discoloration, or melted plastic on the relay module.
• Test the start relay: Disconnect the relay from the compressor terminals. Shake it gently; if it rattles or shows burn marks, replace it with a compatible Clatronic compressor start relay.
• Check compressor windings: With the unit unplugged and relay removed, measure resistance between the compressor terminals (C‑S, C‑R, R‑S). You should see low but non‑zero resistance values. An open circuit or direct short indicates a failed compressor.
• Overload protector: Test continuity through the overload protector. If open at room temperature, replace the overload protector.
• Control PCB relay: If the compressor and start components test good but never receive power, the main control PCB relay may be defective. Inspect the PCB for burnt relay contacts and replace the PCB if necessary.
